These flavorful baked turkey sausage patties are so easy to make and they are perfect for meal prep! They reheat well and they freeze well too!
As much as I love the crispy crust that comes with shallow frying sausage patties on a cast-iron skillet, I have to say that I don’t love the mess it leaves behind. Oil splatters alllll over the stovetop.
When you bake sausage patties in the oven, chances are you’ll make homemade sausage more often. Baked sausage patties make less of a mess and there’s no need to babysit a hot pan on the stove. PLUS, they can taste just as good as sausage made in a skillet! I have a little secret to getting the meat to nicely brown! Once they’re done baking, I broil them for 2-3 minutes to help caramelize the sausage. That’s it, that’s my “secret.”
I think I’m a breakfast person at heart. I love sausage. I love pancakes. I love waffles. I love eggs. I love oatmeal/n’oatmeal. Basically, I love breakfast and breakfast foods. I’m also pretty particular when it comes to seasonings and the overall flavor of food. That’s how I know you will LOVE these baked turkey sausage patties. They are very flavorful: the patties are sweet, savory and have a kick to them. There is so much flavor in these little bites of turkey sausage!
When I make sausage, I always keep extra patties in the freezer. That way, I can thaw the meat and then easily heat them up whenever I want a warm, protein-rich breakfast.
My favorite way to eat these patties? As a side to my paleo pancakes or alongside some soft scrambled eggs. I hope you love these flavorful baked turkey sausage patties as much as I do!
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage
- 2 teaspoons fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon cayenne
- Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Add all of the ingredients to a bowl and mix well.
- Divide the mixture into 12 patties and place them onto a foil or parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake at 350F for 30 minutes or until the sausage is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 165F.
- Broil for 2-3 minutes to brown the patties.
Notes
- If following whole30, leave out the maple syrup for a savory sausage patty.

Omg just made this and it was so so sooo good!!! Didn’t have some of the ingredients,replaced maple syrup with honey, replaced cayenne with cardamom, and used an Italian herb mix for the thyme and sage. I wish I could follow the recipe but I had to work with what I got hahaha! It was spur of the moment oooh I want turkey sausage tomorrow morning kind of thing lol. Thank you for sharing this recipe. It came out really good!!!

These are such a hit in our house! They’re so simple to make, too 🙂 The flavor and texture are just perfect, and that little hint of maple really rounds it all out. Our favorite application around here is combining them with thick paleo pancakes and an egg cooked in a ring, to mimic a popular-but-not-healthy breakfast sandwich 😉
